The 105th session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie was held in Yerevan

On October 7, the 105th session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie was held in Yerevan with the participation of around one hundred high level delegations from OIF member, associate and observer states and governments, as well as other partners of the organization.

Michaëlle Jean, the Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie opened the meeting of the Permanent Council, presenting the preparatory works by the Secretariat ahead of the Summit, the priorities of the organization, its activities in the economic, diplomatic and political dimensions. Jacques Krabal, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie also delivered a speech.

Welcoming the participants of the Permanent Council, Ambassador Ter-Stepanian, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the OIF, in his remarks highly valued the activities of the organization aimed at supporting the countries in crisis situations and encouraging democratic processes.

“Armenia attaches great importance to the involvement and participation of youth in the works of the Summit of La Francophonie and the side the events to be held within the Summit, in particular, the consultations carried out within the Francophone Youth Network for the purpose of elaborating the “Living Together" slogan.

Representatives of member states touched upon various issues related to the activities and agenda of the 35th Ministerial Conference and the 17th Summit of La Francophonie. The drafts of Yerevan Declaration, as well as of decisions and other documents of the Summit were discussed.

The report of the special working group on applications for change of status or membership has been approved at the meeting of the full members of the Organization and will be forwarded to the 17th Summit.
