Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a meeting with Wess Mitchell, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs

On September 28, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is participating in the work of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, met with Wess Mitchell, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

The Minister briefed the Assistant Secretary of State on the internal political developments in Armenia, the priorities of the Government programme, particularly in the areas of human rights protection and fight against corruption.

The sides expressed readiness to intensify the political dialogue. They exchanged views on further deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade-economic field, as well as with regards the development agenda of Armenia, in particular in innovation and scientific-educational spheres, which are considered to be the driving force of Armenia’s development. In this respect they highlighted the work of the Armenia-US intergovernmental commission.

The interlocutors discussed a number of issues of the regional and international agenda, in particular, the protection of ethnic and religious minorities in the Middle East, the fight of the international community against terrorism.

The counterparts touched upon the efforts on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.
