Briefing on the 17th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of La Francophonie at the United Nations

13 September, 2018

On September 13, the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations, in partnership with the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), hosted a high-level meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to brief the UN community on the preparatory work underway for the 17th Summit of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan in October 2018.

The Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN Mher Margaryan presented the priorities of Armenia’s upcoming presidency in the International Organisation of La Francophonie and the programme of the Summit in Yerevan, as well as the slogan of “Living Together” chosen by Armenia as a general theme for the Summit, noting that the motto sends a powerful message of solidarity, social cohesion and respect for cultural diversity, and it will be at the center of all the events throughout the programme of the Summit.

The briefing touched upon the major side events during the Summit, including the Village of La Francophonie and the Gala Concert, and featured the screening of the video presenting Armenia as a host country for the 17th Summit of La Francophonie.

Attended by a large number of representatives of the UN member states, the meeting concluded with positive remarks and a warm welcome of Armenia’s upcoming presidency and the Summit in Yerevan.
