On April 20, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan received heads and representatives of Yazidi and Assyrian community structures of Armenia, Europe and Russia.

Representatives of Yazidis and Assyrians expressed gratitude for the caring attitude of the Republic of Armenia towards their communities, as well as for the efforts exerted in the international arena aimed at putting an end to deportations, persecutions and pogroms of Yazidis and Assyrians in the Middle East by terrorist groups.

Stressing centuries-old tradition of friendly relations between brotherly Yazidi and Assyrian peoples, Deputy Minister assured that Armenia will continue to undertake subsequent steps to prevent crimes against humanity committed against religious and national minorities and to overcome the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East.

Possibilities of further strengthening of cooperation between the friendly peoples in different areas were discussed.
