Days of Francophonie started in Armenia

On March 19, Days of Francophonie officially started in Armenia. This year it coincided with the 40th anniversary of the International Organization of Francophonie.

Today the Days of Francophonie strated by a reception organized at the MFA with the participation of Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hacobyan and Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, Ambassadors accredited in Armenia and high-ranking delegations arrived from the francophone countries. Within the frameworks of Days of Francophonie dozens of events are organized by the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian welcomed the guests and said. “The intensification of francophone process is based on the diversity of Organization’s member states, friendly developments and mutual trust that has been established during a long period. In case of Armenia specific relations with France and strong ties expanding day by day play their important role and the last visit of President Serzh Sargsyan to Paris is the evidence of that”.

Minister Nalbandian also mentioned that the upcoming visit of Abdou Diouf, Secretary-General of the International Organization of Francophonie to Yerevan would open a new page in the relationship of Armenia with the Francophone family.

Positively appreciating the cooperation and solidarity of member states of the International Organization of Francophonie, Minister Nalbandian stressed that Armenia is committed to the values of the Organization and would make further efforts to have an active participation in the activity of the Francophonie.


Within the frameworks of the Days of Francophonie in Armenia during a month dozens of events will be organized in the capital, as well as in different marzes of Armenia. In the course of those events cultural diversity of France, Belgium, Canada, Romania, Switzerland and other francophone countries in the areas of music, literature, science, education and others will be presented.
