The meeting between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Slovakia Edward Nalbandian and Miroslav Lajcոk takes place

On March 18, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák who arrived in Yerevan on an official visit.

Welcoming Slovakian Foreign Minister and the delegation headed by him Edward Nalbandia highly appreciated the obvious intensification of bilateral relations during the recent years and expressed hope that this visit would have its important contribution in the further development and enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.


The two had a comprehensive discussion on a wide range of issues concerning the intensification of political dialogue and interaction within the international organizations, the widening of legal field, the deepening of cooperation in the areas of culture and education.
Touching upon the steps to be undertaken for the promotion of economic relations Ministers Nalbandian and Lajčák mentioned with satisfaction that Armenian-Slovakian business forum, which would be opened today in Yerevan, would create new opportunities for the expansion of business ties of the two countries and the elaboration and implementation of new projects.
Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Slovakia had comprehensive talks on the process of Armenian-European Union cooperation and the steps to be undertaken in that direction. Within that context, they both mentioned that the EU Eastern Partnership Program opens new opportunities for the deepening of Armenian-Slovakian relations within bilateral, as well as multilateral formats. Miroslav Lajčák delivered to Edward Nalbandian a number of proposals on the expansion of bilateral cooperation within the frameworks of the Eastern Partnership.
On the request of Slovakian Foreign Minisrter Edward Nalbandian presented the recent developments in the negotiations on the settlement of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) issue.
In the course of the meeting they exchanged views on the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, as well as a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
After the meeting Ministers signed Air Services Agreement and Memorandum on Co-operation on European Integration.

afterwards Minister Lajčák delivered a speech on Slovakia’s foreign policy at the MFA Diplomatic School.
