Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian meets Foreign Minister of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki

   On January 26, the meeting between Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian and Foreign Minister of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki took place. Iranian Foreign Minister is in Yerevan to participate in the 9th session of Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental joint commission.

Welcoming his Iranian counterpart Minister Nalbandian positively appreciated the Armenian-Iranian friendly and mutually beneficial relations. Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran mentioned with satisfaction that regular high level ties and mutual visits prove the interest in further development of relations and cooperation between Armenia and Iran.

Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers had a comprehensive discussion on bilateral, regional and international issues.
Within the context of discussions on the issues concerning economic relations between the two countries Ministers Nalbandian and Mottaki expressed confidence that the 9th session of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental joint commission will pass on effective and high level. They both attached importance to the enhancement of legal field which will create new possibilities for the deepening of bilateral cooperation.

Edward Nalbandian and Manouchehr Mottaki exchanged views on the maintenance of security and stability in the region.
Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran touched upon the recent developments in the process of settlement of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issue.

Ministers also discussed issues concerning the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Minister Mottaki welcomed the efforts aimed at the establishment of relations between Armenia and Turkey.

Minister Mottaki presented to Edward Nalbandian the recent developments over Iran’s nuclear program.
