The meeting between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia Edward Nalbandian and Sergey Lavrov

On January 14, the meeting between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia Edward Nalbandian and Sergey Lavrov took place.

Welcoming Sergey Lavrov and the delegation headed by him, Edward Nalbandian mentioned that Russian Foreign Minister is the first high-ranking guest visiting Armenia this year and it symbolizes the high level relations, which exists between the two friendly nations and partner countries.

Edward Nalbandian and Sergey Lavrov mentioned with satisfaction that intensive and regular political dialogue between the leaders of the two countries creates a solid basis for the further development of mutually beneficial relations and discussed the process of implementation of the agreements reached on the high level.

The two noted that an efficient cooperation is established between Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Russia.

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia had a comprehensive conversation on the dynamically developing partnership between Armenia and Russia, issues of the South Caucasus region, as well as the cooperation in political, military, economic, humanitarian areas, interaction between the marzes of Armenia and the regions of the Russian Federation, issues concerning the coordination of positions within the frameworks of international organizations.

During the meeting Ministers exchanged views on the process of settlement of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) issue within the frameworks of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Edward Nalbandian attached importance to the support of Russia for Armenia’s steps aimed at the establishment of relations with Turkey.

In the course of negotiations, the two discussed the implementation of bilateral economic projects and the possibilities of their enlargement. Edward Nalbandian expressed the gratitude of the Armenian side for the 500 million dollar stabilization loan given by Russia in 2009.
