Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian participates in the Conference of Foreign Ministers of International Organization of the Francophonie

On December 15, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian who was in Paris for a working visit participated in the Conference of Foreign Ministers of International Organization of the Francophonie.

Delegations from 70 member, associate member and observer countries of the organization attended the Ministerial meeting, which is taking place within the frameworks of 40th anniversary of foundation of the Organization.

The agenda of Ministerial conference was focused on the process of implementation of decisions adopted at the Quebec Summit on October 2008.

Armenian Foreign Minister delivered a speech at the Ministerial meeting.

Minister Nalbandian positively assessed the cooperation and solidarity of member states of International Organization of Francophonie and stressed that Armenia is faithful to the values of the Organization and will continue its efforts aimed at the active participation to the activity of the Francophonie.

In his speech Minister Nalbandian presented the steps being undertaken by Armenia for implementation of Organization’s goals of the.

In Paris, Minister Nalbandian had also several bilateral meetings.
During the meeting with Micheline Calmy-Rey, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the two expressed satisfaction with the established high-level political dialogue, which creates opportunities to follow the process of implementation the reached agreements and to outline new steps.

Foreign Minister Nalbandian also met with Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco Fassi Fihri. During the talks, the two touched upon the issues concerning the development of relations between Armenia and Morocco. They both mentioned that existing relations between the two countries that have rich historic ties are on inadequate level and it is necessary to undertake efficient steps to give them a new stimulus.

Ministers Nalbandian and Fihri exchanged views on Caucasian and North African regional problems and the ways to settle them, agreed to hold regular consultations between the Foreign Ministries, discussed the possibilities for cooperation in international organizations and formation of legal field. Foreign Minister of Morocco invited his Armenian counterpart to visit Rabat.

On the same day Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with his counterpart from Cambodia Nomhong Hor. Ministers exchanged views on the establishment of bilateral relations and economic cooperation. They agreed to intensify bilateral ties to establish interstate partnership, as well as cooperation in international organizations.

Within the frameworks of his visit to Paris Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with Jean-David Levitte, Diplomatic Adviser of the President of France. The two had a detailed discussion on the ways of more strengthening of Armenian-French friendly relations, as well as international and regional issues.

On December 16 Foreign Minister of Armenia returned Yerevan.
