The meeting between Edward Nalbandian and Hilary Clinton took place

On September 28, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian delivered a broad speech at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his speech, Armenian Foreign Minister touched upon several international and regional issues and Armenia’s approaches on their solution. He presented the process of settlement of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) issue and the approaches of the Armenian side.

From the most influential international tribune, Edward Nalbandian spoke about the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations started by the initiative of the President of Armenia.
On the same day, Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with the US State Secretary Hilary Clinton, which is their second meeting during this year.

Welcoming Armenian Foreign Minister the US State Secretary mentioned that the United States are the partner of Armenia in the fields of both democratic reforms and economic development. By Mrs. Clinton’s definition, Armenian-American relationship is comprehensive and deep. On behalf of the American administration, Hilary Clinton expressed readiness to continue the comprehensive cooperation with the President of Armenia, the Government and the Foreign Minister.

Touching upon Armenian-Turkish relations Hilary Clinton highly appreciated Armenia’s efforts aimed at the normalization of relations with Turkey and reaffirmed the US stance that the normalization of relationship between Armenia and Turkey should take place without preconditions and within a reasonable timeframe.

Edward Nalbandian expressed his gratitude on the Armenian-American regular high-level ties, stressed that Armenia attaches importance to the further enhancement of relationship with the United States, and will pursue the development and deepening of friendly partnership and the expansion of cooperation with the United States. Minister Nalbandian thanked for the US support of Armenian-Turkish normalization process.

In course of discussion on Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) issue Edward Nalbandian attached importance to the role of the USA as the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair country in the process of the settlement of the issue.

Armenian Foreign Minister and the US State Secretary exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest.
