The Meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian and Kinga GՓncz, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary

On November 17th, Kinga Göncz, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary arrived in Yerevan for an official visit by the invitation of Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian.

In the course of the meeting with the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandian welcomed the guest and stressed that the Armenian-Hungarian relations have always been friendly and its activation during last years has created the new perspectives for deepening mutual cooperation in various areas.

Minister Kinga Göncz mentioned that the Hungarian people always have a special sympathy with Armenia and the Armenian nation and that the Hungarian authorities are determined in rapprochement of relations with Armenia on bilateral and multilateral levels.

The two stressed that there is a solid potential for the development of economic relationship and they agreed to take efficient steps in that direction. Ministers also attached importance to enlargement of legal field and to development of cultural cooperation.

The Armenian and Hungarian Foreign Ministers touched upon the possibilities for activation of cooperation between Armenia and Hungary within the framework of international organizations.

In the course of the meeting the two exchanged ideas on Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) peace process, as well as on recent regional developments.

Minister Nalbandian mentioned that the frameworks of European Neighbourhood Policy and then Eastern Partnership can become key directions of the Armenian-Hungarian cooperation.

By the end of the meeting Foreign Ministers signed “Memorandum on cooperation in the area of European integration between Foreign Ministry of Armenia and Foreign Ministry of Hungary”.

The meeting between Ministers of Armenia and Hungary was followed by the joint press conference.
