Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting at the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University

On September 1 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian visited to the Yerevan State University. He got acquainted with the activity of the University and its educational projects, then he had a meeting with the professors and students of the Faculty of International Relations.

In his address the Head of Armenian Foreign Ministry presented main directions of Armenian foreign policy and country’s positions of on a wide range of international and regional issues.
At the beginning of the meeting Minister Nalbandian mentioned that heads of Armenian diplomatic missions abroad and representations in international organizations are in Yerevan to take part in their annual meeting to be held on 3rd of September. On the initiative of Foreign Ministry they were visiting almost 20 educational institutions, Universities and Schools in Yerevan in order to present to the young generation Armenian foreign policy and the issues on Armenian Foreign Policy Agenda.


Edward Nalbandian told that training of diplomats is one of the priorities of Foreign Ministry and in this sense it’s important to establish strong contacts with different Universities, particularly the Faculty of International Relations of the Yerevan State University, in order to ensure proper training of future diplomats. Minister Nalbandian also informed that in the nearest future a diplomatic school will be founded, which will give the opportunity for the University graduates to get qualification of a diplomat with the perspective of further work at the Foreign Ministry. At the end of the meeting Minister Nalbandian answered number of questions by the students. While answering a question regarding the possibility of discussion of bilateral issues on the Presidential level during the possible visit of Turkish President to Armenia, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that in case of President Gul’s visit to Armenia it would be natural, if during football match, before or after it, Presidents of Armenia and Turkey have a talk, and it would be natural if in the course of that talk the Presidents also touch upon international, regional and bilateral issues.
