Foreign Minister Oskanian Meets with Artis Pabriks, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia

Minister Oskanian received Latvian Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks, on April 20. The Latvian Minister and his delegation came to Yerevan on the third leg of a regional visit.

During the meeting, the two stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue between the two ministries in order to broaden and deepen mutually beneficent bilateral relations. In discussing the need to further develop relations between the two countries, Minister Oskanian noted Armenia’s interest in broadening ties in the economic as well as other spheres.  

In this regard, the Latvian Minister pointed to the significance of air links between the two capitals, as well as embassies in Yerevan and Riga.  He also mentioned the possibility of benefiting from Latvia’s Euro integration experiences, especially in proposing economic programs.

In response to Minister Pabriks’ request, Minister Oskanian explained the current state of Nagorno Karabakh negotiations. The two colleagues also spoke about other regional issues, and about Armenia-Turkey relations.

Following the meeting, the ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Latvia on Eurointegration Issues. The signing was followed by a joint press conference.
