Minister Oskanian received the Executive Secretary and Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Rushailo who visited Armenia on April 5, 2007.

CIS’s Executive Secretary informed that he visited Armenia in preparation for the monitoring mission for Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections. Minister Oskanian welcomed the CIS initiative to participate with an observation mission, stressing the importance of holding elections which meet international standards.  

Then, Mr. Rushailo briefed his colleague on the work of the General Secretariat. He also touched upon the agenda of the next meeting of CIS Foreign Ministers, which will take place in April.

The two expressed satisfaction with Armenia’s participation in a variety of CIS activities, especially in efforts to deepen humanitarian cooperation, as well as with Armenia’s constructive stance in discussions related to CIS reforms.
