Within the context of NATO Week in Armenia, Foreign Minister Oskanian received NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Jean Fournet, on March 12, 2007.

Jean Fournet pointed out the importance of NATO week, just launched in Armenia, for spreading the necessary information about the Alliance. Mr. Fournet especially stressed that the discussions over NATO’s role was also useful for the Alliance.

The two noted the importance of involving Armenian society in the dialogue, since NATO’s role and responsibilities extend beyond the problems of security and includes a variety of issues, which are of public interest.  The two also talked about the prospects of the implementation of Armenia’s Individual Partnership Action Plan with NATO.

After this meeting, Minister Oskanian and Mr. Fournet participated in the official opening of the NATO Information Center in Yerevan.
