Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian’s Meeting With German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier
20 February, 2007On February 20, Minister Oskanian met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who was in Armenia as part of a regional visit.
The agenda included bilateral cooperation, issues concerning Armenia-EU cooperation in the framework of the EU Neighbourhood Policy, as well as Armenia-Germany joint projects.
The Foreign Minister of Germany, which has taken on the EU Presidency during this first half of 2007, highlighted his country’s interest on focusing on th EU Neighbourhood Policy and on doing everything possible to assist the South Caucasus states in the realization of their European agenda through specific projects.
The two parties discussed regional matters including Armenia’s relations with its neighbouring countries.
There was also a discussion of the process of seeking a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and on talks that are being conducted over this issue. German Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of rapid settlement of conflicts in the South Caucasus, which will activate European integration process of these countries and contribute to their overall development.
