On February 5, 2007, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vartan Oskanian met with the President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Göran Lennmarker who is currently in Armenia on the first leg of a regional visit.

Greeting the guest, Minister expressed his satisfaction with OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's increased interest in the region. In speaking of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, the OSCE PA President stated his confidence that they will be held according to the highest standards.

The Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution was also a topic of conversation. Mr. Lennmarker stressed that the atmosphere of trust between the sides was crucial. The President noted the positive influence that the European Neighborhood Policy will have on that process, considering that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are part of the program.

Finally, the two discussed the OSCE PA President’s Report on Nagorno Karabakh conflict peace process.
