31 January, 2020

Question: Ms Naghdalyan, in your comment on the meeting of Foriegn Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan you noted that Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized the importance of the involvement of Artsakh’s elected representatives in the peace process. Can you clarify, what does the definition “Artsakh’s elected representatives” mean?

Answer: The elected representatives of Artsakh is an internationally recognized term since 1992. Under that name the authorities of Artsakh participated in the peace process since 1992. This definition is being opposed by the Azerbaijani authorities, which are consistently standing for the restriction of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and arguing against the participation of the authorities - the “elected representatives” of Artsakh.
