Answer by Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan to "Armenpress" news agency

02 February, 2015

Question: Mr. Kocharyan, the Turkish side defined the Armenian reaction - to the invitation conveyed to the President of Armenia to participate at the events dedicated to the anniversary of Gallipoli battle - as unacceptable. How would you comment that?

Shavarsh Kocharyan: It turns out that it is acceptable for the Turkish diplomacy without responding to the invitation extended by the President of Armenia to the President of Turkey to attend the events on April 24, dedicated to the commemoration of victims of the Armenian Genocide, committed in the Ottoman Empire - to shift to that very day the events, dedicated to the anniversary of Gallipoli battle and, moreover, dare to convey invitation to the President of Armenia to attend them which goes against all the moral norms.

With such primitive tricks Ankara makes yet another unsuccessful attempt to conceal its inability to face its own past and accept historical truth, which could pave the way to the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.

In order to avoid being caught in such an absurd situation the Turkish authorities should have changed not the day of traditional celebrations of Gallipoli battle, but their denial thinking which is a continuation of their genocidal policy.
