Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia with the Foreign Minister of Iran
05 October, 2026On October 5, in Tehran, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
Before proceeding to the official part of the discussions, Minister Mirzoyan expressed his condolences to his Iranian counterpart on the passing of his sister.
The interlocutors held an in-depth discussion on the full range of issues related to the development of relations between Armenia and Iran. Both sides emphasized the strategic nature of the relations, as reflected in the Programme of the Government of the Republic of Armenia for 2026–2031 and manifested in practice through both the dynamics of the high-level dialogue and the implementation of important projects.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Seyed Abbas Araghchi discussed cooperation projects in a number of areas, including energy, transport and infrastructure development. The importance of constructing a second bridge on the Armenia-Iran border and completing the construction of the third power transmission line as soon as possible was emphasized, along with issues related to facilitating freight transportation between the two countries.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran exchanged views on the benefits arising from the unblocking of regional communications and on regional connectivity projects. Iran’s support for the “Crossroads of Peace” project was emphasized. Minister Mirzoyan presented the ongoing work towards the implementation of the TRIPP project and the new opportunities it offers to the countries of the region.
The importance of continuous cooperation in the field of public communication was also touched upon, including with regard to properly countering undue speculations in the media space.
The Ministers exchanged views on regional developments. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia is closely following the current situation, attaching importance to efforts aimed at addressing the existing issues through negotiations.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
