First meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of the Armenia-UN Sustainable Development Coordination Framework 2026-2030 was held

On September 29 the first meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of the Armenia-UN Sustainable Development Coordination Framework 2026-2030 took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia co-chaired by the Deputy Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan and  François Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the importance of implementing programmes stemming from the Framework Document, based on Armenia’s needs and priorities, as well as ensuring coordination and accountability in programme cooperation. It was underscored that the development of national capacities should serve as a key benchmark for the successful implementation of these programmes.

Robert Abisoghomonyan placed particular emphasis on prioritizing the needs of vulnerable populations within the framework of programme cooperation, particularly the needs of refugees and the development needs of border and rural communities.

The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Government of Armenia and UN agencies, who coordinate the sectoral implementation of the Framework. The evaluation of the progress since the adoption of the framework and identification of the upcoming priorities aligned with the Government Plan of Armenia 2026-2030 were discussed.
