On September 25, at the UN Headquarters in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan participated in the side event entitled “Artificial Intelligence in the Context of International Peace and Security.”

The event, organized by India and Greece, aimed to provide a platform for discussion on issues related to the growing role of artificial intelligence across various fields. As artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into economies, communications and the security environment, the importance of guiding its development and application in support of peace, stability and human development was emphasized.

Presentations were delivered by Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology, and Izumi Nakamitsu, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs.

The discussion also addressed the practical applications of artificial intelligence, including its potential in conflict early warning, humanitarian needs assessment, satellite data analysis, humanitarian logistics and recovery planning.
