Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Participates in the High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations

On September 25, in New York, within the framework of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated in and delivered remarks at the High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade referred to the historic developments that took place in Washington on August 8, emphasizing the importance of consolidating and institutionalizing the established peace through substantive cooperation, including by expanding regional connectivity, economic opportunities, and people-to-people contacts.

In the context of the role of education in consolidating peace, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade emphasized the “Education for Peace” resolution initiated by Armenia and unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

In the context of the role of new and emerging technologies, Robert Abisoghomonyan presented the resolution initiated by Armenia and unanimously adopted in 2025 within the framework of the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the 1954 Hague Convention, aimed at strengthening the protection and restoration of cultural heritage through the use of new and emerging technologies.

Referring to Armenia’s continued contribution to international efforts to protect cultural heritage affected by conflicts, Robert Abisoghomonyan highlighted Armenia’s accession in May of this year to the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH).
