Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia participated in Ministerial Meeting of the UN Peacebuilding Commission

On September 24, Robert Abisoghomonyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia, who is in New York to participate in the work of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, participated and delivered remarks at the Ministerial Meeting of the UN Peacebuilding Commission, entitled “National Ownership in Practice: Strengthening Inclusive State Institutions through International Peacebuilding Support.”

The Deputy Minister underscored the importance of national ownership and inclusivity in peacebuilding processes, noting that governments bear the primary responsibility for building just, peaceful and inclusive societies.

The Deputy Minister presented Armenia’s efforts to ensure the full participation of women and youth in peacebuilding processes. Armenia’s Gender Policy Strategy and the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security was referred to, which aim to promote women’s leadership across all spheres of public life, including in border and refugee-hosting communities. He also presented the “Inclusive Livelihoods National Framework for Refugees and Host Communities,” implemented in cooperation with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and other development partners, aimed at the long-term integration of refugees, access to housing, employment and social services.

Addressing regional developments, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade noted that the Washington Summit of August 8, 2025, opened a new chapter for peace, prosperity and regional cooperation in the South Caucasus. Robert Abisoghomonyan reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Armenia to strengthening peace through promoting dialogue between societies, developing regional transport connectivity and trade, as well as  addressing existing humanitarian issues.
