On September 23, in New York, within the framework of the high-level week of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan attended and delivered remarks at the side event "Cultural Heritage at Stake," co-organized by Greece and Italy.

Deputy Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the vulnerability of cultural heritage in crisis conditions and the threats it faces. He stressed the importance of preserving the identity, origin, and historical context of cultural and religious heritage in conflict-affected areas, as well as the effective application of international legal instruments.

Robert Abisoghomonyan also presented Armenia’s active engagement in protecting cultural heritage in times of crisis, highlighting the exchange of expertise within the framework of UNESCO’s “Revive the Spirit of Mosul” initiative, support for the activities of the Blue Shield International, and Armenia’s accession earlier this year, in May, to the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH).

Addressing the role of new technologies, Robert Abisoghomonyan presented the resolution initiated by Armenia and unanimously adopted last year at the 16th Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the 1954 Hague Convention, aimed at strengthening the protection and restoration of cultural heritage through the use of new and emerging technologies.
