Participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia in Preparatory Consultations Ahead of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17)

On September 16, in Montreal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Abisoghomonyan, as part of the delegation of the Armenian Presidency of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, participated in working meetings organized ahead of the Conference with the Executive Secretary of the Convention and other representatives of the Secretariat. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, alongside Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan, were part of the Armenian delegation. 

The discussions covered the progress of preparatory work for COP17, the Conference's core negotiating and political priorities, expected outcomes, as well as priority areas requiring special attention and high-level engagement from the Presidency.

The parties exchanged views on preparations for the Leaders' Summit and the High-Level Ministerial Segment, emphasizing the need to secure strong representation, alongside efforts to foster political engagement on sensitive matters. The discussions also touched upon the thematic days and side events scheduled for the Conference.
