On September 11, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Shafqat Ali Khan, the first Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Armenia (residence in Abu Dhabi), appointed following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Minister Mirzoyan congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in carrying out his important diplomatic mission.

The importance of further developing the bilateral agenda between Armenia and Pakistan and the mutual political willingness to advance cooperation was emphasized. The steps envisaged towards this end were touched upon.

Views were exchanged on regional developments.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan received Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan on the occasion of the presentation of a copy of his credentials.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan in 2025, based on the principles of the UN Charter, was an important political decision by the governments of the two countries.

The interlocutors discussed prospects for developing cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, including through the establishment of a bilateral legal framework.

The Deputy Minister presented the priorities of the balanced and balancing foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, Armenia’s efforts aimed at the institutionalization of the established peace, as well as Armenia’s approaches to promoting regional connectivity.
