Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia with the Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia
08 September, 2026On September 7, in Riga, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Daiga Mieriņa, Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia.
The meeting was also attended by Gunārs Kūtris, Head of the Group for Promoting Cooperation with the Parliament of Armenia.
The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the growing dynamics in the development of relations between Armenia and Latvia. The strong commitment to promote cooperation in areas important for the sustainable development of the two countries, including economy and energy, was emphasized.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of ensuring the continuity of active cooperation between the friendship groups in the parliaments of Armenia and Latvia as well as the parliamentary platform in consistently developing interaction within the Armenia-Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) format.
Minister Mirzoyan and the Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia also touched upon the strategic agenda for the Armenia-EU partnership. Among other areas, the importance of making the best use of the existing mechanisms aimed at strengthening Armenia’s economic resilience was emphasized.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the dynamically changing regional realities. “The establishment of peace has created unprecedented opportunities for the development of regional connectivity, and Armenia is making every effort to develop the network of infrastructure and effectively realize these opportunities,” Minister Mirzoyan noted.
Views were exchanged on issues related to the further institutionalization of peace. Humanitarian issues were also touched upon.
