Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia with the Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity
04 August, 2026On August 4, in Nairobi, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
During the meeting, the preparations for the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Yerevan this October, were touched upon.
The interlocutors underscored the importance of ensuring high-level participation in the Leaders' Summit and the high-level ministerial segment in order to provide political momentum to the global biodiversity agenda and reinforce the outcomes of the Conference.
They also exchanged views on the negotiations and ongoing work within the framework of the meetings of the Convention's subsidiary bodies—the 28th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-28) and the 7th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI-7)—currently taking place in Nairobi.
Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan presented the priorities of Armenia's COP17 Presidency, reaffirming Armenia's commitment to delivering an inclusive and results-oriented Conference with the full participation of all stakeholders.
Deputy Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia Aram Meymaryan also participated in the meeting.
