Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia with the UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide
15 July, 2026On July 14, in New York, on the margins of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Chaloka Beyani, the UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide.
During the meeting, the close cooperation established between Armenia and the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect was highlighted. The interlocutors expressed willingness to further enhance the partnership on issues of mutual interest.
Robert Abisoghomonyan and Chaloka Beyani discussed the UN80 reform process, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the prevention agenda. The Deputy Foreign Minister underscored the willingness of Armenia to continue active engagement in the topics of genocide prevention, contributing to the strengthening of early warning and preventive mechanisms.
The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the efforts of Armenia within multilateral platforms, including the biennial “Gencode Prevention” resolution presented within the HRC framework.
The parties also touched upon the 6th Global Forum “Against the Crime of Genocide”, to be held in Armenia later this year.
