On July 13, on the margins of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) held in New York, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed on the efforts aimed at further strengthening the peace established in the South Caucasus. In the context of leveraging the untapped potential of the region, the implementation of the projects aimed at developing  transport infrastructure and advancing connectivity were emphasized.

The interlocutors discussed the process of the UN80 reforms. In this vein, the Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring continuity of effective operation of UN bodies across agendas of development cooperation, human rights protection and prevention.

The Deputy Foreign Minister and UN Under-Secretary-General also discussed the work underway in the lead-up to the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Yerevan, in October. 

The interlocutors exchanged views on the issues of international security.
