Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia with the Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Culture

On June 24, in Paris, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Nayef Al-Fayez, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Culture.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on prospects of expanding the framework of existing partnership and deepening the cooperation between Armenia and UNESCO in the field of culture.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the readiness of Armenia to continue its active and constructive engagement in the work of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan reaffirmed the commitment of Armenia to contributing to the expansion of UNESCO's toolkit. In this context, the resolution entitled “Enhancing the Protection and Restoration of Cultural Heritage through the Use of New and Emerging Technologies” was highlighted, initiated by Armenia and unanimously adopted last year within the framework of the 16th Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

The interlocutors commended the established cooperation between Armenia and UNESCO and emphasized the importance of its continuous development toward the preservation, restoration of cultural heritage and the promotion of cultural diversity within the framework of the Organization's mandate.
