Below is the speech delivered by Minister Ararat Mirzoyan:
"Honorable Minister, my dear friend Jean-Noël Barrot,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Distinguished parliamentarians, ambassadors, mayors,
Dear guests and friends,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome to Armenia's new home in Paris! It is a great honor to host you at the official opening ceremony of the new residence of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Armenia in France.
This day is significant not only in terms of strengthening Armenia’s diplomatic presence, but also from the perspective of the increasingly strengthening friendship between Armenia and France – a friendship with a rich history, grounded in our shared values of freedom, democracy, and solidarity, and best reflected in your distinguished and numerous presence here today.
I would like to express my gratitude to the French authorities for their continued support, as well as personally to you, Mr. Minister, dear friend, for your presence at this important event for Armenia.
It is also symbolic that the new residence of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Paris is located in the private residence of the former President of France Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.
Distinguished guests,
This solemn opening takes place just days before the scheduled state visit of President Emmanuel Macron to Armenia – a visit that I am convinced will become one of the most important milestones in the history of our bilateral relations. In fact, since the restoration of Armenia's independence, relations between Armenia and France have consistently developed, and today, Armenia and France have succeeded in forming a partnership of a strategic nature based on close political dialogue, regular high-level contacts, active parliamentary and decentralized cooperation, and multi-sectoral partnership. This is visible at the bilateral, European, and international levels. This truly strategic partnership will soon be further solidified by a document to be signed by President of France Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
We highly value France's constructive engagement in strengthening peace in the South Caucasus. The strong commitment of France to protecting Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, to Armenia's democratic path, and to the European aspirations of the Armenian people is deeply appreciated.
The presence of a large Armenian community in France has also greatly contributed to the deepening of this friendship. Living embodiments of our friendship have been, and continue to be, those exceptional individuals who, through their talent and dedication, have enriched the cultural and public life of both nations – Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand, Henri Verneuil, Jansem, Patrick Devedjian and others.
Dear friends,
In conclusion, I wish to express my conviction that the partnership between Armenia and France will continue to strengthen, unchored on our shared values, mutual trust, and joint vision for the benefit of our peoples and our common future.
Vive l'Arménie, vive la France, vive notre amitié."
Jean-Noël Barrot noted in his remarks: "Mr. Minister, as you mentioned, in a few days the President of the Republic will pay a state visit to Armenia, marking an exceptional strengthening of ties between our two countries. At that time, Yerevan will become the beating heart of Europe; it will host the summit of the European Political Community and the first Armenia-EU summit.
This event is a testament to the fact that our two countries have chosen to walk together toward the future with determination and confidence. Armenia’s courageous commitment to establishing peace with Azerbaijan has opened a new horizon on the path to peace, security, and prosperity in the South Caucasus."
