Meeting of the Heads of the Diplomatic Missions of the Republic of Armenia in European countries in Paris
28 April, 2026On April 27, in Paris, a meeting of the heads of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Armenia accredited to countries and organizations in the European region was held under the leadership of Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
In his opening remarks, Minister Mirzoyan noted: “The last time we all met – albeit with a broader representation – was at the end of August. Since then, numerous developments have taken place, particularly in Europe and in the relations between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union, as well as with individual member states. Strategic partnerships with numerous countries are currently under discussion. In a week’s time, we will witness the signing of the long-negotiated document with France.
Prior to this, in recent months, such developments have already taken place with individual countries – for example, with Germany. Of course, the terminology varies slightly from one document to another: in some cases, it is the establishment of strategic partnership, while in others it is a strategic partnership agenda. For instance, with the European Union, we signed a “Partnership Strategic Agenda,” and so on.”
Minister Mirzoyan touched upon the high-level events to be held in Yerevan on May 4-6, including the European Political Community and Armenia–European Union Summits, as well as the “Yerevan Dialogue” event.
Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan, who coordinates relations with European countries, presented the main agenda items of the EPC and Armenia-EU Summits, as well as the documents to be signed.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Davit Karapetyan touched upon the preparatory work for the “Yerevan Dialogue” and the main directions of the discussions.
During the gathering of heads of diplomatic missions, the participants discussed Armenia-EU partnership, activities and ongoing programs aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation with European countries, and future prospects.
Minister Mirzoyan presented the progress in the implementation of regional connectivity projects involving Armenia, along with activities with international partners aimed at developing economic and transport infrastructure networks.
The processes of normalization and development of relations with neighboring countries, including steps towards the institutionalization of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan were touched upon.
Views were exchanged on regional and international developments, as well as on existing challenges.
The initiatives aimed at improving the diplomatic service, including proposed amendments to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Diplomatic Service”, were also touched upon during the discussion.
