Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with Head of OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission

On April 23, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan received the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, Ambassador Janez Lenarčič and his delegation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan highly appreciated the cooperation established between Armenia and OSCE/ODIHR, which has played an important role in ensuring the continuity of democratic processes in Armenia and strengthening public trust in the electoral processes.

The meeting focused on the implementation of legislative reforms and practical steps initiated by the Government of Armenia, in cooperation with international partners, aimed at ensuring democratic stability, strengthening public trust, as well as improving institutional preparedness and electoral processes. The Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to holding free, fair and transparent parliamentary elections on June 7, in accordance with international standards.

The importance of ensuring a more inclusive environment for the elections, including the effective involvement of international observers, civil society and non-governmental organizations in elections, was emphasized. The Deputy Foreign Minister also touched upon hybrid threats, including manifestations of disinformation, and measures aimed at their prevention.
