Official launch of the traditional two-month Francophonie celebrations in Armenia

On March 24, the official launch ceremony of the traditional two-month Francophonie celebrations in Armenia took place at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall. Opening remarks were delivered by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan, as well as, Chair of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Armenia, Ambassador of Belgium to Armenia Eric De Muynck.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized that the launch of the two-month Francophonie celebrations is an important opportunity to once again highlight Armenia’s ties with the Francophone world and reaffirm its commitment to Francophone values.

It was highlighted that initiatives and events dedicated to the Francophonie in Armenia are conducted on a continuous basis, with the active engagement of state institutions, diplomatic missions, educational and cultural organizations, and civil society.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also addressed this year’s theme for International Francophonie Day, "Generation Peace? Youth Contribution for a More Peaceful World," emphasizing the importance of reaffirming commitment to peace, solidarity, and the fundamental principles of international law in the face of current challenges, as well as promoting initiatives aimed at engaging youth.

In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister drew the attention of the attendees to the 10th anniversary edition of the Francophonie Games to be held in Armenia in 2027, highlighting the ongoing efforts undertaken by The Republic of Armenia in organizing the event.

The event was attended by representatives of state authorities of the Republic of Armenia, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Armenia, and diplomats. Within the framework of the event, a concert titled “Francophonic Tagharan” performed by the Tagharan Ensemble of Ancient Music also took place.
