Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Robert Abisogomonyan with the UN Working Group on Discrimination against Women and Girls
16 March, 2026On March 16, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Abisoghomonyan, received members of the UN Working Group on Discrimination against Women and Girls, who are in Armenia on a monitoring visit.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented Armenia’s policies and priorities in the field of women’s rights, referring to initiatives and steps aimed at ensuring gender equality and eliminating discrimination against women and girls.
Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized that the implementation of gender policy in Armenia is institutionalized at the national, regional and community levels. In this context, he noted that the state policy is aimed at expanding the role of women and increasing their representation in various spheres of public life, including at the decision-making level.
Touching upon the implementation of the Third National Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia on “Women, Peace and Security,” the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that it takes into account developments in the region and prioritizes initiatives aimed at strengthening peace.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also noted that through the introduction of a national mechanism for implementation, reporting and follow-up, Armenia has made its cooperation with international monitoring bodies more systematic, open and transparent.
