Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
24 February, 2026On February 24, in Geneva, on the margins of the session of the UN Human Rights Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Volker Türk exchanged views on priorities in the field of human rights protection, current challenges facing the international human rights system, and the key directions of cooperation.
Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia's approaches regarding the further institutionalization of the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Continuous consolidation of peace, steps aimed at promoting an atmosphere of trust, as well as addressing the problems of the conflict-affected population and humanitarian issues were also touched upon.
During the meeting, the importance of active cooperation toward strengthening democratic resilience and trust in human rights protection institutions was emphasized. The significance attached to human rights themes within the framework of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Armenia later this year were also touched upon.
