Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Portugal
23 February, 2026On February 23, on the margins of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council convened in Geneva, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Ana Isabel Xavier, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Portugal.
The interlocutors commended the positive synergy established between Armenia and Portugal across multilateral platforms and international organizations. The parties reiterated their shared willingness to further the cooperation on issues of mutual interest. In this vein, the importance of partnership within the framework of the Human Rights Council was emphasized to advance common interests and shared values.
Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan briefed his counterpart on the ongoing preparations carried out ahead of the 8th Summit of the European Political Community and the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Armenia this year, and outlined the vision of Armenia for hosting these events.
The parties exchanged views on the recent developments in the South Caucasus. The Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of institutionalizing peace. The projects aimed at ensuring regional connectivity were touched upon.
