Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan with UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder

On December 9, in New York, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Guy Ryder, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy.

The interlocutors commended the high level of cooperation established between Armenia and the UN. Both sides emphasized their willingness to enhance and strengthen the partnership framework.

The parties exchanged views on the reforms envisaged within the UN80 initiative. The importance of ensuring the continued effective functioning of UN structures in the context of the development cooperation, human rights protection and prevention agendas was highlighted.

During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed his counterpart on recent regional developments, emphasizing the importance of implementing the agreements reached in Washington on August 8, including initiatives aimed at unblocking infrastructure on the basis of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of the states, as a key guarantee for preserving and consolidating the peace established in the region.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Abisoghomonyan touched upon the ongoing preparations ahead of the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Yerevan in 2026, and presented the vision of Armenia for ensuring an inclusive and cooperative COP17 with the engagement of all relevant stakeholders.
