UNIDO General Conference Adopts Resolution on Circular Economy Co-Authored by Armenia, Mexico, and the Philippines

On November 27, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) adopted by consensus a resolution entitled “Circular Economy for Inclusive and Sustainable Development,” jointly submitted by Armenia, Mexico, and the Philippines.

The resolution aims to promote the circular economy as a key pathway towards more sustainable, resilient and resource-efficient industrial development. 

The resolution places particular emphasis on supporting developing countries through enhanced financing, capacity-building, technology transfer, and access to innovative solutions that can accelerate the implementation of circular-economy practices. It also underscores the need to scale up assistance from international financial institutions and development partners. The document further highlights that strengthened cooperation can help developing countries enhance industrial resilience, create jobs and advance their sustainable development.
