Armenia has been elected a member of UNESCO World Heritage Committee

On November 24, in Paris, at the UNESCO Headquarters, within the framework of the 25th session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Armenia was elected a member of the World Heritage Committee for the first time.

In the round for open, non-allocated seats in the elections, Armenia achieved the best results receiving 105 votes from a total of 161, which demonstrates the strong confidence of the international community towards Armenia in the field of cultural heritage protection.

Becoming a member of the Committee, Armenia reiterates its commitment to enhance efforts towards protection, preservation and reconstruction of cultural and natural heritage, as well as to promoting international efforts aimed at strengthening of the fundamental principles of the World Heritage Convention.
