Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Denmark

On November 11, in Copenhagen, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Foreign Minister of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen.The Ministers first had a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by discussions in an enlarged format with the participation of delegations.

The interlocutors had a detailed discussion on the whole bilateral agenda between Armenia and Denmark, agreeing to promote the deepening of partnership through active political dialogue, economic cooperation, and initiatives in other areas of mutual interest.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Lars Løkke Rasmussen explored practical opportunities for expanding cooperation, including potential concrete projects to promote business ties and investments as well as sharing expertise in innovation, renewable energy, and other fields. Both sides emphasized that despite the geographical distance, Armenia and Denmark are close to each other in their shared commitment to democratic values and the development of like-minded partnerships. Minister Mirzoyan underscored the importance Armenia attaches to Denmark’s continued support for the country’s chosen path of democratic development, expressing gratitude for Armenia’s inclusion in the “New Democracy Fund 2023-2026” initiative launched by Denmark.

The ministers discussed ongoing efforts to deepen the Armenia-EU partnership, taking into consideration Denmark’s current presidency of the EU Council. Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated his Danish counterpart on the successful organization of the European Political Community Summit, highly appreciating Denmark’s readiness to share experience and cooperate in preparations for the upcoming EPC Summit to be held in Yerevan in 2026.

The Ministers also expressed satisfaction with the active dynamics in the Armenia–Nordic-Baltic 8 (NB8) cooperation format.

During the meeting an exchange of views on regional issues took place. In the context of the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the possibilities for unblocking communications were touched upon, the effective implementation of which will also contribute to the expansion of the Europe-Central Asia connectivity network.

Following the meeting, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

The memorandum emphasizes the importance of further deepening Armenia-Denmark and Armenia-EU partnerships. Both countries will continue efforts aiming at supporting Armenia’s progressive approximation with EU standards, enhancing its sovereignty and resilience, and strengthening democratic institutions.

Alongside regular political consultations, the two countries will encourage dialogue and cooperation in the areas of green transition, renewable energy, human rights, culture, and other sectors of mutual interest.
