On October 15, Minister of  Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity Astrid Schomaker. 

The interlocutors touched upon the ongoing preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be held in Yerevan in 2026. It was emphasized that at this stage substantial work has already been carried out in both the substantive and technical preparation of the event, aimed at ensuring an ambitious and inclusive conference.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Astrid Schomaker exchanged views on ideas contributing to the successful organization of the conference and, more broadly, promoting cooperation within the UN framework, highlighting their readiness of active collaboration between the Republic of Armenia, the Convention Secretariat, and international partners in implementation of those initiatives.
