Participation of Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan in the 76th plenary session of the UNHCR Executive Committee
08 October, 2025On October 8, in Geneva, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the 76th plenary session of the UNHCR Executive Committee of the High Commissioner's Programme.
The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the pivotal role of the UNHCR in addressing humanitarian challenges during the unprecedentedly tense period, highlighting the necessity of adequate financing to meet the needs of refugees, internally displaced and stateless people.
Robert Abisoghomonyan commended the effective cooperation between Armenia and the UNHCR in developing a range of initiatives and implementing long-term programs to address the humanitarian needs of forcibly displaced persons. The Deputy Minister emphasized the pivotal role of the document jointly developed with the UNHCR and entitled “Inclusive Livelihoods National Framework for Refugees and Host Communities”, as a roadmap for addressing the needs of refugees.
The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that Armenia, as a country hosting the largest number of refugees per capita in the region, consistently implements a humanitarian-development nexus approach, aimed at ensuring dignified lives and full societal integration for displaced populations.
In conclusion, the Deputy Foreign Minister called for ensuring unity and shared responsibility, stressing that the future of displaced people - regardless of their geography - depends not only on humanitarian compassion but on political will, sustained financing and bold collaboration.
