Participation of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan in the High-Level Meeting on the draft of the UN WFP Country Strategic Plan for Armenia 2026–2030

On September 30, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks in the high-level meeting dedicated to the discussion of the draft of the UN WFP Country Strategic Plan for Armenia 2026–2030.

In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister highly appreciated of the UN World Food Programme's (WFP) activities in Armenia aimed at strengthening food security and alleviating humanitarian needs. The meeting addressed issues on poverty reduction in communities and strengthening social protection for vulnerable groups.

Deputy Foreign Minister Abisoghomonyan expressed hope that the revised Country Strategic Plan, developed as a result of the consultations, will be a landmark in strengthening Armenia's food security, increasing the country's resilience to emergency situations, as well as ensuring a future-oriented joint response. The importance of the new strategic framework in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the principle of leaving no community behind was also emphasized.

Leila Meliouh, Country Director and Representative of the UN WFP Office in Armenia, also made a speech at the meeting, presenting the draft Country Strategic Plan for 2026-2030. It was emphasized that the development of the capacities of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the transfer of necessary skills to strengthen food security and address humanitarian needs is one of the main priorities of the Document, and the latter aims to ensure the sustainable development of the Republic of Armenia after the end of the program.

Representatives of the line ministries  also took part in the discussion.
