On September 26, in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UNGA, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Diene Keita, the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of United Nations Population Fund. 

The sides emphasized the importance of deepening the effective cooperation established between Armenia and the UNFPA, including in the areas of gender equality, sex and reproductive health, youth empowerment and addressing demographic challenges.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia touched upon the UNFPA Country Programme Document for 2026–2030, stressing that the initiatives reflected therein are fully aligned with the vision of the Government of Armenia. The Deputy Minister particularly underscored the importance of safeguarding the rights of vulnerable groups, including refugees and persons with disabilities, and ensuring their full inclusion.

The importance of securing adequate financing for the effective implementation of the Country Programme Document, as well as ensuring coordinated cooperation with donors in this regard were touched upon.
