Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan with UN Assistant Secretary-General Ivana Živković

On September 23, in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UNGA, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Ivana Živković, the UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC).

The interlocutors commended the cooperation established between Armenia and UNDP in advancing sustainable development, strengthening democratic institutions and advancing human rights. The adoption of the Country Programme Document (CPD) for 2026-2030 was emphasized, which opens new opportunities to further elevate and consolidate the partnership between the parties.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia underscored the necessity to address the long-term needs of refugees and the importance of UNDP’s support in this regard, particularly in implementing programs aimed at the response of host communities, promoting refugee integration and fostering social cohesion.

The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the preparatory work underway for the upcoming 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be hosted in Armenia in 2026, and discussed potential avenues for the engagement of UNDP, taking into account its expertise in climate, biodiversity, and environmental issues.
