Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Thailand

On September 12, in Yerevan, the first political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Thailand were held, chaired by the Head of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Karapetyan and the Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of Thailand Krongkanit Rakchareon.

The parties discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation, expressing readiness to develop the existing political dialogue. A wide range of issues of the bilateral agenda were discussed during the meeting, including the development of economic ties, possibilities for cooperation in the fields of tourism, IT and Innovation, the further expansion of the legal framework and the promotion of educational and cultural exchanges. The sides touched upon the existing cooperation within international organizations and other multilateral platforms.

Regional and international developments were touched upon as well. The Head of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Armenia briefed her counterpart on Armenia's peace agenda, including the agreements reached in Washington within the process of normalisation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as Armenia’s vision towards enhancing regional and inter-regional connectivity and developing multifaceted cooperation. The Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of Thailand  presented the latest developments in Southeast Asia.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation was received by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan. During the meeting, a range of issues pertinent to the Armenia-Thailand bilateral and multilateral agendas, as well as regional developments were touched upon. 

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed the Thai side on the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative developed by the Government of Armenia.
