The visit of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan to the ICC

On July 16, in the Hague, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Tomoko Akane, the International Criminal Court President and Osvaldo Zavala Giler, the ICC Registrar.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of the cooperation between Armenia and the International Criminal Court. The importance of maintaining an independent and impartial approach by the ICC in delivering rule-based and evidence-based justice was emphasized.

The Deputy Minister briefed his counterparts on the details of the domestic legal processes undertaken by Armenia to comply with the obligations envisaged by the Rome Statute. In this context, the importance of international expertise and technical assistance was underscored.

Within the framework of the visit to the ICC, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan also had a meeting with Mame Mandiaye Niang, the Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

The Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated the commitment of Armenia towards enhancing international legal mechanisms and ensuring the continuity of the dialogue aimed at strengthening the legal framework.

Both sides emphasized the role of the ICC and international legal mechanisms in upholding sustainable peace and security.
